40th Anniversary

Excellence by design.
What began as an individual entrepreneurship with a simple mindset, ‘Excellence in all we do’, has grown into a firm trusted across public entities and fellow professional design firms across New York State. While our reach has changed, our mindset has not. Edward O. Watts, Sr., PE, introduced ‘Excellence in all we do’ as Watts’ founding mission statement. This core sentiment was the catalyst underlying Watts's growth as the firm transformed in those first few years and gained momentum from there to flourish for the next few decades to come.
By Watts' tenth anniversary in 1996, the team moved into the former Eggertsville Fire Hall on Main Street in Amherst, New York, won the NYS Governor's Award, had over 30 employees, and opened its service offerings to include Environmental Consulting, Civil and Transportation Engineering, and Construction Inspection Services.
Today, 40 years later, our list of expertise includes Environmental Consulting, Regulated Building Materials, Civil and Transportation Engineering, Construction Inspection Services and Architectural Service. Our team is distributed across New York State in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Brooklyn. We've worked on thousands of projects some of which have been part of New York's eminent infrastructure undertakings. From the demolition of the old Memorial Auditorium, to working in our public schools in Western New York, Rochester, and Brooklyn. Buffalo’s Niagara Street revitalization, being part of the Highmark Stadium excitement, to the massive I-81 undertaking in Syracuse. We're fortunate and grateful to do the work we're doing. It’s where we live —the schools where we learn, the parks where we play, the healthcare facilities where we heal, the museums where we explore, and the roads that take us safely home.
Our success is measured not only by these projects but also by the relationships we’ve sustained in these 40 years and the communities our work impacts. As design professionals, our experiences may be different, but our purpose has always been and remains shared: to deliver enduring and trustworthy design that creates space for what matters.
A forty-year milestone is cause for celebration and reflection, and that's how we plan to spend 2026.
Celebrate people.
Celebrate places that matter.
Celebrate ambition.
