New Tables and Benches Designed by Watts – Constructed by Students!
Friday, August 31, 2018
Exterior tables and benches for the Northland Workforce Training Center and Gigi’s Restaurant were designed by Watts and constructed by students from Burgard and McKinley High Schools in Buffalo. Staff from Empire State Development and Gilbane Building Company assisted with project administration and material procurement. Students from Burgard High provided metalworking and students from McKinley provided woodworking as part of their summer program. We anticipate additional tables and benches will be constructed by students in upcoming semesters.
The Burgard students who assisted with the metal work are Swa Big, Salam Hadish, Imran Khan, Rickwon Mason, Taj McKenzie and Richard Mehnert.
The Burgard staff consisted of Mr. Jeff Cummings and Mr. Sal Zawistowski.
The McKinley students who assisted with the wood working are Gaven Prial: ‘18-‘19 Senior HVAC Student: P-Tech Summer Youth Paid Program, Georgie Alejandro: ‘18-‘19 Senior Carpentry Student; P-Tech Summer Youth Paid Program, Devin Littleton: ‘18-‘19 Senior Carpentry Student: P-Tech Summer Youth Paid Program and TaQuan Cornwell: ’18-’19 Senior HVAC student; P-Tech Summer Youth Paid Program.
The McKinley Building Trades teachers/Adjunct Alfred State Instructors supervising the Summer projects are Kenneth Carter, Dana Noud and Benjamin Kean.
