In the Field Friday 🚧🌳
September 4, 2026
This week, we’re taking you to Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora, NY, where Watts Environmental Scientist Jett Perillo was in the field providing environmental monitoring during the demolition of the White Barn Stable.
According to Park employees, the stable originally housed horses belonging to one of the early wives in the Knox family, who apparently had quite an affinity for horses. The family eventually built a larger stable just uphill from the original.
The White Barn Stable had seen better days, and Watts was there to help ensure its demolition was completed safely and in compliance with Industrial Code Rule 56, Section 11.5-Controlled Demolition. As Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician, Jett conducted daily air sampling throughout the demolition to monitor for the release of loose debris or hazardous materials.
Jett captured these photos while monitoring the demolition, giving us a unique look at the work from the field.
