Project Update: Niagara Street Phase 4 - ALMOST complete
May 19, 2025
Monday, May 19th, the asphalt roller marked a milestone for Niagara Street Phase 4B as the project nears completion. Phase 4 was a $4.5 M project from Hertel Avenue to Ontario Street that continued the transformation of the Niagara Street corridor from an industrial roadway into a multi-modal street that serves pedestrians, bicycles, transit, and motor vehicles in a safe and functional manner. Improvements included pavement rehabilitation, curb extensions, new sidewalk and high-visibility crosswalks, traffic signals, LED street lighting, and green infrastructure.
This segment is part of a $35M investment in the Niagara Street corridor that created jobs and further catalyzes private business development in the area. Great work especially to Watts' Transportation Team who's been involved with the Niagra Street transformation since 2015 Our Construction Inspectors include Jerome Gasiewicz, Ken Peters, Jim Frankenburg, Jason Hamilton, and Tom LoTempio from DiDonato.
Phase 5, Porter Ave to Hampshire, is the final piece and is currently in construction and will be finished early 2026. Watts currently doing CI/CA.
