Watts in the Field… the Networking Field! 🤝
October 5, 2026
September was a busy month for networking, relationship building, and connecting with organizations across Western New York!
On September 15 UB’s Center for Tomorrow hosted one of NYS ESD’s Project Pop-Up events, focused on opportunities for MWBEs in Western New York. ESD has been hosting these relationship-building events across the state, and Watts has been fortunate to attend several. These events are a great opportunity to learn about upcoming procurements, connect one-on-one with representatives from New York State and local agencies, and continue building relationships throughout our industry.
Then on September 16, the 2026 WNY Latino Small Business Symposium brought together NYS minority-, women-, and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, state agencies, and community organizations. Hosted by NYPA, Canal Corporation, NFTA, and NYS ESD, the event offered valuable insight into how businesses can work with these agencies and, just as importantly, create connections with one another.
With September being National Hispanic Heritage Month, the symposium also featured a panel of Latino and Latina business owners who shared personal experiences and insights from their careers. A theme that really stood out was the importance of representation and visibility, as Luis Rodriguez put it, “Keep being seen.”
Jessie Henschel was pleased to represent Watts at both events and connect with so many ambitious businesses, agencies, and organizations. We’re already looking forward to next year!
