SUNY Buffalo State University, Houston Gym Rehabilitation
Buffalo, New York
SUNY Buffalo State University rehabilitated the Houston Gym Building, which involved renovating the 93,900 GSF of floor area and roof. Extensive renovations were performed throughout the interior and exterior of the building.
Watts prepared comprehensive pre-renovation surveys for asbestos-containing materials (ACM), lead-based paint (LBP), polychlorinated bipheynls (PCB) in sealants, hazardous waste/contaminated materials, and other environmental hazards such as mercury and acid waste. Watts also prepared hazardous materials remediation design and contract documents to define the extent of work required. Watts was the Environmental Control Representative throughout the remediation portion of the project, providing full time oversight and environmental testing. As the environmental consultants, Watts also provided construction contract administration services and closeout review.
Watts also provided civil engineering services by preparing the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Report for the post-construction project site. The SWPPP included temporary erosion and sedimentation control measures for the disturbance and was permitted for construction by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC). Watts performed weekly stormwater inspections to comply with permit requirements throughout the construction period.
