SUNY Oneonta, Rehabilitation of Fitzelle Hall
Oneonta, New York
Watts provided plumbing, fire protection and hazardous materials design services for the renovation of approximately 46,000 square feet of space within Fitzelle Hall and for the construction of several additions to the structure totaling more than 50,000 square feet.
The new facility has two, three-floor additions including all new plumbing fixtures and piping, domestic water heating equipment, domestic and fire protection water service and new wet pipe sprinkler and standpipe systems.
The existing 5-story office tower was demolished and Watts prepared the documents detailing the asbestos-containing materials and PCB sealants that had to be removed. In addition, significant asbestos abatement was required in the remaining 3-story section of the building.
The renovated building houses classrooms and offices for the Education, Math, Philosophy and Psychology departments.
